Happy first anniversary Billy

by Latifah Jellanie on Sunday, 28 November 2010 at 07:49

A year has passed since Billy came into my life and it has been a wonderful year. From a person who was not only scared but also feels eek towards feline I've learnt to love them as each day went by.

He may not speak my language but all the same I understand his language when he wants things and he knows and listen when I talk to him.

He understands simple command and it brings me happiness:)

My second month with him was a difficult month when he decides to pee on my comforter few occassions ,

the frustration I got when I came home from work and almost wanted to give him up!

I perservere and gave him a second chance rather than sending him back to the cattery.

As the days, weeks and months went by I learn that he is one very sensitive cat who wants his way.

He is naughty at times and did something which he shouldn't have done but he is afterall a cat.

He is there looking at me with a sad look before I leave for work and he is there to welcome me home from work

with his 'maa...aa' greetings and stretch himself on the floor for me to love him with a rub on his neck.

He is my alarm clock even during the month of Ramadhan he will wake me up at the dot 4.30am and he will also has his morning meal with me at 5am.

Nothing in this world will I trade him for another.

He is my COMPANION in good and bad times.

He is my LOVER at bedtime - sleeping in his tray on my bed.

All I ask for on this first anniversary that god will grant us,

Many more happy years together .. insya'allah.

He is there every morning to greet me 'good morning Maa...a'

I love you to bits Billy always.

Holistic Animal Care: Constipation

"Last, but not least, acupuncture and herbs can be very effective in treating constipation. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, constipation is considered to be caused by a deficiency of Qi, or energy, to the Large Intestine, possible complicated by other factors, such as Liver stagnation. There’s an excellent section on the treatment of constipation in a book on Chinese Medicine for dogs and cats called Four Paws, Five Directions by Cheryl Schwartz, D.V.M. (Celestial Arts Press, Berkeley, 1996). Seek out a veterinary acupuncturist to discuss these treatments for your cat. "

Why would a cat safe and comfy in a good home wants to be "nomadic"

This is one silly reason why HDB bans cats from living in HDB flats where almost 90% of people live!

Two adopted cats with clipped ears

Sandy the Persian

12 June 2010 -- Emaciated, malnourished

Source of story: http://www.facebook.com/#!/album.php?aid=180880&id=683974778

Sandy has a tattoo in his ear. He has been neutered. He is also severely malnourished due to a highly sensitive digestive system which was not treated.

Sandy was dumped at the Pasir Ris beach about 3 weeks before I took him in on 2nd June 2010. My neighbour, L'atiffah and her daughter Nurul spotted him on 1st june when they went for an afternoon brisk walk, and asked me to help. When I saw the MMS they sent, I couldn't say no.

Today, after having him with me for a month already, I just realised how cruel his previous caregivers are.

They not only dumped him after mistreating him, they also had him DECLAWED. He was dumped DEFENCELESS. He could not climb trees to flee from predators or fight even if his life depended on it.

I was so concerned about getting his poop just right (which mean he is absorbing nutirents from his food) that it didn't dawn on me to check. Even when he pawed at me when he wanted more food, I just thought he was simply keeping his claws sheathed. It only crossed my mind to check his front paws when i thought about how he would smack my hand playfully, but I never felt any claws.

I felt so indignant and angry that he has been declawed. He is neither an agressive nor large and strong cat. There can be no good reason to have him declawed.

He was so weak he couldn't meow the first 2 weeks he was with me. He started with a wimper, then an audible purr, before a "meow" came out :-) gradually as he grows stronger. His undercoat is also growing, as is evident by recent hairballs which were not present before.

I hope to restore him to his beautiful and healthy self, the way he should be.

Look how lovely he's become! A healthy 5kg too :-) Nov 2010
