"Relocating" can mean "Abandonment" - clearly ineffective in solving irresponsible" "free-roaming" house cats!

Since the receipt of feedback on the cat nuisance in August 2006, we have on many occasions requested Mr Wee's neighbour to find an alternative home for the cat through home visits and letters. The matter was resolved when the neighbour removed it in July last year. We have spoken to the neighbour on the return of the cat. He is arranging to relocate it. We will closely monitor the case to ensure that it is removed from the flat by the deadline.'

This relocating of a home-cat was clearly ineffective as the problem recurred when the owner adopted another cat and continued to be irresponsible by not keeping it indoor. And yet the HDB is resorting to the same approach by asking the owner to relocate the cat.
Ths cat is likely to end up abandoned in another estate, creating problems for community cats and their care-givers.
As long as the cat is out of a HDB flat, it is no longer HDB's problem but that of the Town Council. The town council will then blame caregivers for an increase in the number of community cats!
See how ineffective this "solution" is.

What is simple and effective are
1) Have rules instead of ban on cats. The owner can be regulated to install mesh on his door and window grills.

2) The owner could be fined, so that he would not repeat his mistake again.

3) The cat will be microchipped so that he will not dare to abandon the cat!

Please write in the press or Mr Mah Boh Tan to put in Rules and Regulations instead of the Ban that is clearly ineffective!
