Food for thought?
I was told that an important person who attended an important meeting over the Selayang Pound issue proposed that one way to solve the pound problem is to eat the dogs.
As animal-lovers, we are all appalled at this suggestion.
But it always makes me wonder why people are not appalled that chickens, fish, goats and many other animals are also eaten. After all, aren't these also sentient, feeling beings?
They are slaughtered brutally (there is no such thing as "humane" killing, please...killing is killing), they howl and scream in fright just before the knife comes down on them.
I remember a vet once telling me that he has no qualms euthanising animals which are sick, but then again, he also wished he could euthanise humans who are equally sick. His principle is that he cannot stand to see any living being suffering in pain, and he would want to end it all. It is interesting too, that he says, as much as he loves dogs, he will not condemn a dog-eating person because he (the vet) himself eats chicken and other animals. To him, whether it is a dog or a chicken, it is still a life.
Perhaps that could be our "food" for thought for today, after dinner?

My friend, TY Lee, mans loveusnoteatus.com single-handedly, and he sends his classic one-and-only car decal and sticker all over the globe with a very clear message, that our beloved pet dog, cat or parrot is no different from the cow, goat, pig or chicken that we eat.
Think about it...
