Act against puppy mills

MANY animals are being ill-treated in local puppy mills here. They suffer from malnutrition, unhygienic conditions and diseases like tick fever.

Most breeders do not take good care of the hygiene in the breeding farm, let alone the health of the animals. Most animals suffer from health problems, which the puppies inherit. This results in pets being abandoned and having to live off the streets, which creates social issues. Most of the animals are not given a second chance and are culled by the authorities, even when they are in good health.

I understand that the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority does promote responsible pet ownership, but this has not been enough to influence people's behaviour. This can be shown by the increasing number of pets being abandoned yearly. It reflects on how the next generation could turn out - more irresponsible and ignorant.

Please adopt or think twice before buying a pet.
