These guinea pigs, wearing versions of traditional Peruvian garb, were on display during a guinea pig food festival in Huacho, Peru, on Sunday.

Guinea pigs are native to the high Andes, and have been an important source of protein for millennia.

In Peru, the animal is usually roasted or fried, and then served with a generous portion of Andean tubers and corn.
