Cats are fine, but spare thought for other animals too

The Electric New Paper :

Cats are fine, but spare thought for other animals too

I REFER to the article 'Not rich, but they spend thousands on strays' (The New Paper, 10 Jan). My heart really goes out to the cats, who are put to sleep over 'disturbance' and 'nuisance'.

I REFER to the article 'Not rich, but they spend thousands on strays' (The New Paper, 10 Jan). My heart really goes out to the cats, who are put to sleep over 'disturbance' and 'nuisance'.

I strongly believe and know that we, the human race, do not own this world. Animals have a role to play in the course of nature too.

This is especially disappointing coming from Singapore, a country with different cultures and religions, that we do not respect another living thing.

I'm sure none of us were taught to take the lives of innocent creatures, under any circumstances, just because they are 'unhygienic and dirty'.

I have seen plenty of unpleasant sights caused by drunken behaviour, and I have heard of inconsiderate families switching their volume of their TV sets loudly at night, but I do not see any 'punishments' being implemented to them.

I urge the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority, Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, as well as my fellow human beings to revise the current system of putting unsterilised cats to sleep.

I also would like to call out to everyone to be more tolerant towards our fellow earthlings.

Remember, we share this humble earth with them too.
