9th November 2006, 7.30pm: On the way to the carpark, a ginger cat suddenly appeared at my side. I thought it was Kunyit. Then I looked at the ear. It was untipped. I flipped up the long straight tail - a female! She was very friendly and followed any human being she passed by. She was not streetwise and didn’t know the dangers of the road yet. I went to get the soft carrier from my car. She disappeared. I went in search of her and found her with a group of Malay men chatting around a motorbike. I called to her and she followed me. I then lifted her into the carrier and zipped her up. I left the carrier on the backseat of the cat while I went to my apartmet to get my wallet and SOS-ed to Vincent. He was on his way to an area nearby and he could collect the cat from me.
8.15pm: Transferred the cat to Vincent who will send her for sterilization tomorrow.
19th November 2006: Adopted
7th June 2007: Scratching of furniture and then escaping from the house, disappearing for 3 days, returning with injuries, were too much for the adopter with small kids at home who were suddenly all down with “flu”, that Goldie was sos-ed returned on the 4th (last Monday). He is hospitalized in the vet for treatment. I haven’t got the full details yet but P said he wasn’t critical. He is a classic ginger with a long straight time so he shouldn’t have to wait too long for another home…hopefully this time a truly permanent one.
10 July, 2007 After more than a month of being hospitalised, Goldie is starting to get better. About 2 weeks ago, he almost didn’t make it that Phyllis went to the vet hospital to give him his last rites.

24 July, 2007 He is back to the cattery this afternoon.

The vet thought the multiple wounds could have been caused by darts.
His prolonged stay at the vet was due to the need for several assistants to hold him while the deep wounds were being flushed. The assistants suffered bites because of the pain inflicted but they forgave and still dearly love Goldie.
Hope he will regain his handsome form soon and find a new home.

10th July 2007
He almost died of ovewhelming infection. He was, in fact, given the last rites.
Once he is restored to his “pre-morbid” glory, he will be up for adoption..again
Goldie is a relatively rare classic ginger with a long straight bushy tail
12 August, 2007
He can go to a new home now. Anyone?

Dear caretakers,
I am interested in the cat called Goldie which I saw on your website. I have always owned cats, and they were always either from places like SPCA or “hand-me-down” cats or previous strays. At present we own a dog which was adopted from SPCA three-and-a-half years ago. But as I am very experienced in having cats and dogs live together, I do not think there will be any big problems getting Goldie and Slinky the boxer to live together in peace and harmony. Slinky is used to living with a cat, as we had one before, which sadly passed away.
I hope it will be possible to come and see Goldie on Monday. I’m really sorry, but this weekend is impossible. I hope to hear from you,
Kind regards,
Karin van B

Dear ******,
Thank you for your mail. Yes, Goldie is home with us and has been installed in my daughter’s room for now. She is home most of the time because of exams this week and Goldie now has a climbing post, a platform and two beds plus toys and a scratching post to choose from (not to mention a very comfortable lap). We will slowly introduce more rooms of the house to help him settle in. I once had a cat that got very unsettled when he was adopted by me and moved from a tiny apartment to a larger house. Introducing rooms one by one solved that problem so we thought we would try that with Goldie.
He is extremely affectionate and everybody adores him. So far he has not wanted to sit or stand still long enough for some decent photos but that will come in the future!
Kind regards,
K

Dear xxxxx,
Just thought you might like to have a quick update on Goldie. He feels very comfortable with the dog, which is great. Neither of them is very fussed about the other and I am very happy about that. Sometimes the dog gets a bit jealous if Goldie gets a lot of attention, but she will get jealous over a lot of things and is never malicious, anyway.
Goldie loves to play with your hair if you lie on the floor with him, it’s really funny, and it’s also very sweet how he likes to have his tummy rubbed. Most cats I’ve known do not like their tummies touched at all!
He loves to look out at the birds in the trees, but is also keen on any doors opening, so we are all very careful about where he is all the time.
We are all very fond of him and are happy that he was entrusted to our care!
Kind regards, K

Goldie is doing very well. My daughter says he has been putting on weight as we have been trying to find out which brand tinned food he likes best! He has discovered that the very large dog bed makes for a great place to sleep and also enjoys sitting on the window sill to check on what’s going on outside.
We are very happy with him!
Cheers!

Dear ****,
Actually, we renamed him Ollie, hope you don’t mind. He is really well. He has grown a bit of a thicker coat what with the winter weather here. He goes outside, but only in the garden. I know in Singapore he was not supposed to go out (and never did), because of the dangers of snakes and traffic, but here in Texas it is a very different matter, Do not worry, we take very good care of him. He is quite spoilt and usually sleeps in my youngest son’s bedroom (on the bed!). We also have a new boxer puppy, and he is perfectly fine with that. He does not seen to get at all upset by the little dog’s attention. If it is too much for him, he simply gives her a warning swipe across the face and she knows to stop! Happy New Year! We miss Singapore and its wonderful people and food! Regards, K
