I'm just to old?

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=487810977963047&set=a.325534760857337.73645.325492457528234&type=1&theater
I'm just to old?

Look at me, all wet in the rain,
My parents dumped me, yet again!
Left behind, out in the cold,
Just because, i am old!!
I,ve a tear in my eye, i am in pain,
Sitting here, on my own in the rain!
Although i'm old, i do not smell,
I'm not any trouble, i do not yell!
I'm a little stiff, and my fur is coarse,
But being dumped, it all looks worse!
Every night i spend alone,
Soaking wet, chilled to the bone!
Oh save me someone, take me home,
Don't leave me here, all alone!
This is my story, and now it is told,
No-one loves me, because i am old!! (G.Lamb 9/7/2013)

Loss of a Loved One

You can shed tears that he is gone

or you can smile that he has lived

You can close your eyes

and pray that he comes back

or you can open your eyes

and see all that he’s left

Your heart can be empty

because you can’t see him

or it can be full of the love you shared

You can turn your back on tomorrow

and live in yesterday

or you can be happy for tomorrow

because of yesterday

You can remember him and only that’s he gone

or you can cherish his memory

and let it live on

You can cry and close your mind

be empty and turn your back

or you can do what he’d want

Smile, open your eyes

love and move on

Scream @ Kelly, Calico Mum Passed Away

Scream @ Kelly, Calico Mum Passed AwayOct 1, '06 6:35 PM
by yas for everyone
I wanted to remember you by
on the favourite garden of love
Needing to remember you by
I burried you in your garden of love
Perhaps you may wonder
of the absence of flowers
Just know that..
the flowers will come in a few days' time
let's just alay humans' suspicions
till you're warmed down there
while the gentle soil protects you
If you see hard enough
you'll find me
from the corners of the garden of love
with my tears and aching heart
as I remember you by
And at night, when the world's asleep
you'll find me closer to you
greet me, baby
for Mummy's just on you
singing you a lullaby.
(In memory of Scream, otherwise affectionately known as Kelly who has touched our hearts with her winning grace and unnerving love to protect her 4 kittens)
Loving you in my heart, always.

Where can we go?

Where can we go?May 17, '06 2:32 PM
by miow-miow3 for everyone
HDB says No
We stay on the streets
Town Council says No
The feeders mess up public areas
We move to the carparks
Car owners say No
The scratches must be that "stupid cat sleeping on the roof"
We move to the hawker centres
NEA says No
Or else no 'Singapore OK' label
We hang around the walkway
The young lady says we scare her mother
We move near the childcare
The parents complaint to the Town Council's officer
"Get rid of the cat or we beat your brain out!"
We poo on the grass
The Town Council's Senior Property Manager screams
"Cats cannot poo! Not even on the grass!"
Where can we go?
Can we ask to be unborn?
We are labelled pest and nuisance
Without justification
Look who is destroying the earth?
At an unprecedented pace
Come on
We only want to live
Just like you do
What right have you got to push us off the brink?

Dark clouds drifting
Wind howling
The rain falls
My thoughts drift from the comfort of the cats in my apartment
The rain will quench the thirst of many community cats
Diluting the poisons that have been added to the stagnant water
The rain will flush away the kittens hidng in the small drains
The meowing drowns in the swirling water
The cats that fell into the steep monsoon drains
Rush in vain against the raising tide of water
Cats hiding beneath cars
Cats crouching under concrete seats in the void decks
At the mercy of the human traffic
Life is like that
Sweet
Sour
Bitter
What then
Is the mystery of existence?

In Memory of a Beautiful "Ugly" Cat

I saw you many months ago at one end of a block of flats.
You wanted to go near two ladies but they stomped their feet to "scare" you offf.
You were an "easy" catch for sterilization.
Some time after you were released back at your block, you migrated to the adjacent block.
I can still "see" you sitting in the void deck licking your paws.
You were fussy, preferring only wet food.
So I avoided you when I only have dry food with me otherwise you would follow me for a long distance.
You made the most charming voice when you "speak" - ek ek ek ek
So I named you Squeakee.

As sudden as you had come,
As sudden you were gone.

Perhaps you had finished your task in this realm -
To make some of us look at your with our heart and not our eyes.
To see the beauty in your ugliness.
To love you despite your ugliness.

Where-ever you are, you will always occupy a part of our heart.

In Memory of Fei-Chai

I heard you before I saw you.
Your ears were sharp.
You heard me at the car and called from across the driveway.
And then you appeared.
You were always hungry but you always showed your affection first by rubbing around my legs

It has been three weeks that I last saw you.
With vanishing hope, I still look for you whenever I am at the carpark.

Where-ever you are now, I wish you well.
May you be happy.

The Cat in Iraq

The Cat in Iraq

By RYAN ALEXANDER

She came to me skittish, wild.
The way you’re meant to be,
Surrounded by cruelty.
I did not blame her.
I would do the same.

A pregnant cat, a happy distraction
Some sort of normal thing
Calico and innocent.

The kittens in her belly said feed me.

And I did.

She crept with careful eye,
body held low to the dirt,
snagged a bite,
and carried it just far enough away.

She liked the MREs
the beef stew, the chicken breast, the barbeque pork,
But she did not like canned sardines.
I do not blame her.
I would do the same.

She came around again and again
finally deciding that I was no threat
That this big man wasn’t so bad.

I was afraid to touch her as the docs warned us
Iraqi animals were carriers of flesh-eating disease.
I donned a plastic glove and was the first to pet
This wild creature who may be

The one true heart and mind that America
Had won over.

After a while I forgot the glove and enjoyed
The tactile softness of short fur,
Flesh-eating bacteria be dammed.

Her belly swole for weeks
And she disappeared for some days
Until her kittens were safely birthed
In the shallow of a rusted desk
In the ruins that lined the road behind us.

She came around again slim
With afterbirth still matted to her hind legs
She was back again, but not quite as often
She came to eat and for attention
But there was nursing to be done.

One day she crept up with a kitten in her mouth
She dropped it at my foot and stared up at me
She expected something, but there was nothing I could do
The young black and white kitten was dead
It’s eyes not yet opened.

It looked like some shriveled old wise thing
Completely still, mouth puckered
Small body curled and limp.

She let me take the baby without a fight
She knew, but seemed unaffected.

She fetched me a gift,
A lesson, among the worried nights
Shot nerves from poorly aimed mortar rounds:

Everything dies
the evil, the innocent
Her baby and me
I thought I should say a prayer and bury
This poor little thing
But I did for it what will be done for me

I laid it in the burn can amongst the ash
And said I’m sorry.

My "downstairs" cat

I wish i can bring you home....but i can't I wish i can be more friendly with you....but i can't

Not all humans are nice to cats.....they aren't

Trusting all humans can mean the end of you.

Though it saddens me when u cower away from me...

Until you recognise my voice...

Because i know then that you do not treat all humans

With the same tenderness that you shower on me..

Your soft body brushing my legs.......

I hope

you will learn to be street-smart, knowing who to trust

and who to stay away from

I hope

you will survive on the streets of Singapore

and perhaps one day, someone will bring you home..

CATS By the Dozen

CATS By the Dozen

I started out with ONE kitty,
I couldn't resist her face.
Then, I realized she had a sister,
and there were TWO kitties at my place.

A friend had to move away,
and her kitty couldn't go.
So, of course, I took her in;
and I had THREE cats, wouldn't you know.

Numbers FOUR and FIVE
were orphaned one day.
I added them to our family
and watched them all at play.

Little number SIX
showed up at our door.
I saw no harm in another,
but weakly said, "No more!"

What would you have done,
if number SEVEN was left one night?
Part of an abandoned litter,
EIGHT, NINE, TEN...I didn't put up a fight.

We were a growing family,
but how much bigger...?
A tiny little lost kitty,
I named number ELEVEN Tigger.

The last two to join us,
numbers TWELVE and THIRTEEN;
were Christmas gifts from Santa.
Meet Sara and Eileen.

I love them all dearly.
They each own my heart.
Who would have ever expected
THIRTEEN kitties at the start?

Each one has a name,
you've met Tigger, Sara and Eileen.
Now meet Tara, Patches, Whiskers,
Topaz, Zesty and Irene.

Over here are the rest
of my little family.
Bootsie, Kira, Laura,
and the littlest one, Misty.

Every life should have NINE cats,
sometimes even more than that.
The joy they bring is endless,
so open your heart and home to a CAT.

THE COLD WIND BLOWS

THE COLD WIND BLOWS

a poem by Lilian C. Gillard

Around my body the cold wind blows
and I curl into a ball.
I dream of a family and a place by the fire,
feeling loved, and fed, and warm.

When there's no food and my tummy is empty
I try so hard to be brave.
A gentle touch from a kindly soul
is all that I do crave.

If for just one day I could be your cat
I'd purr and love you no end.
I'd sit by your feet and tickle your toes
and promise to be your best friend.

A family cat so warm and cosy
looks out into the night,
he purrs, content with his good life
not a care for the strays and their plight.

"Who'll care for me when winter comes"
`neath a bush is heard a cry.
"Will nobody take me home with them,
is my future just to die?"

A Cat

Gentle eyes that see so much,

Paws that have the quiet touch,

Purrs to signal "all is well"

And show more love than words could tell.

Graceful movements touched with pride,

A calming presence by our side

A friendship that takes time to grow

Small wonder why we love them so

Colin Phan's "I am a Cat"

Colin Phan's "I am a Cat"

I have feelings. I feel pain.
I did not choose to be brought into this world.
I have no home.

Everyday I search for food
In drains, rubbish bins, in places no one would think of,
Just to eat so that I may survive,
So that I may live another day to search for food.
I see so many of my kin doing the same thing,
Some are fortunate like I am, some are not,
Countless are those who have drowned, who have died,
Just searching for that morsel of sustenance so that they may live another day.

Where do I go? I sleep where I can,
I suffer the ignominious looks of people.
If I am lucky, I am shooed away,
If I am not, I get kicked, swept at by brooms,
And it hurts.
I have seen my children tortured.
Images of Rubber Bands stapled on ears,
Of tin cans tied to tails to scare us.
Even worse, of detergent poured into water to poison us.
Whom do I tell these feelings to?

No one. We suffer in silence.

Yet there are kind souls.
There are those who will feed me, who care.
There are those who give me a gentle hand,
That will make that very special effort.
Who amongst us do not crave a mother’s touch?
Who amongst us do not wish to live?

Yet we are denied this right...
Countless of us are sentenced to death.
Today I look again for food,
I may not see tomorrow,
Because I am just an “ANIMAL”
I have no rights,
And thus, I am no longer allowed to live.

The Cat Owner's Prayer

The Cat Owner's Prayer

Because I'm only human, it's sometimes hard to be
The wise, all-knowing creature that my cat expects of me.
And so I pray for special help to somehow understand
The subtle implications of each proud meowed command
Oh, let me not forget that chairs were put on earth to shred
And what I like to call a lap is actually a bed
I know it's really lots to ask but please, oh please, take pity
And though I'm only human, make me worthy of my Kitty!!!
