This is the community cat who inspired a caregiver to write this prose in 2006.

The feeders mess up public areas

We move to the carparks
Car owners say No
The scratches must be that "stupid cat sleeping on the roof"

We move to the hawker centres
NEA says No Or else no 'Singapore OK' label

We hang around the walkway
The young lady says we scare her mother

We move near the childcare
The parents complaint to the Town Council's officer "Get rid of the cat or we beat your brain out!"

We poo on the grass
The Town Council's Senior Property Manager screams "Cats cannot poo! Not even on the grass!"

Where can we go?
Can we ask to be unborn?

We are labelled pest and nuisance Without justification

Look who is destroying the earth? At an unprecedented pace

Tom-King, the community cat that inspired this prose, was found with weakness of the hind limbs and is now admitted into a vet clinic for care.

On Sunday night(14th April 2013, the feeer didn't notice anything wrong with him. The next morning, on 15th April 2013, he was found to be wobbly in his lower limbs. He was rushed to a vet clinic.The vet detected a loud heart murmur. There was no pain along the spine and Xray showed no fracture. The hind paws' colour was pink, indicating good blood circulation. However the vet thinks the cause of the sudden partial paralysis of the hind limbs is a "stroke" caused by a blood clot from the heart that traveled to the lower end of the large blood vessel called the aorta to partially block the circulation to the spinal cord and lower limbs. We can't find homes for all the homeless cats, trying to survive in an increasingly human-infested environment with increasing stress from urbanization that may result in increasing direct abuse on defenseless animals or indirectly by complaining to the town councils, but we can try to do the bit for just the cats at our downstairs, by getting them neutered, by helping feeders to be aware of the repercussion of irresponsible feeding, by emailing to your property officer at the town council that you will help to look into any complaints of cats in your neighbourhood, so that the default solution is not culling.

A very senior community cat called Tom-King as he used to terrorize the cats around here until he was trapped for neutering 7 years ago. He mellowed down a lot since he was conferred his eununchship. He is estimated to be 8-10 years of age.

He was neutered 5-6 years ago. Once an "un-neutered" fighter! and probably has many concubines then! Hence his name tom-KING.

Fortunately he sleeps UNDER cars and not ON cars, hence so far no complaint from car owners!

Before this cat was nabbed for neutering about 6 years ago, he was the dominant "king" in this car park picking fights with other "strays" and cats allowed by irresponsible owners to roam out ("free-roaming home cats"). One resident when she heard cats screaming, remarked, "That cat again!"
Since his eunuch-hood, his temperament mellowed tremendously and his "nomadic" territory is just a HDB car park and the block of flats adjacent to this car park.
Fortunately Tom-King prefers to sleep under cars ad hence his fur is often soot-stained. Sometimes he appeared very clean and fresh and it is suspected that some residents who washed their cars at the car wash area, also gave this cat a bath!

Being old-ish and unattractive, short of a miracle, home for Tom-King will remain this car park. Fortunately he is "smart" to avoid sleeping ON cars but sleeping beneath, hence the patches of soot on his "fur coat".
Hopefully the human residents will continue to be tolerant of his presence and let Tom-King live out his life without being prematuredly terminated by in the name of "culling the nuisance".
