Hi Everyone
14 April 2012
On 14/4/12, feeder Mdm A found this unsterilised male community cat in Choa Chu Kang called Busuk with a large maggot infested wound on his left cheek. Busuk was sent to The Joyous Vet and had surgery overnight.
The extent of his injury to his ear, eye and facial nerves is uncertain at this point. He will need to be hospitalised for at least a month and may need skin graft in future.

Visited Busuk today and he is alert and able to eat. He is an extremely sweet boy with good temperament.
Had a discussion with Dr Lowe too. Busuk’s estimated period of stay for recovery will be at least around 2 months. Maggots were flushed out of his wound. He is currently on medication for pain relief, anti-inflammotry, anti-maggots and also anti-biotics.
His facial nerve is affected due to the extent of maggots infestation. His left eye is inflamed and ear canal is not affected for now but needs monitoring. Due to this he will have droopy eye and also drooling.
His face is currently bandaged and they are allowing his skin to contract and self-heal hopefully. See pictures and video attached http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJSmetgCfZI
. Dr Lowe will re-evaluate his condition in another 2 weeks’ time. If all is well, she will perform a skin graft on him by pulling his skin to cover the raw flesh and sewing it up.
The rough estimate cost of the medication, surgery and stay will be around S$3,000. Mdm A is appealing for donations to defray costs of Busuk's medical bills. Anyone who wish to sponsor please PM me Nebisa Ali once you have donated or sms 90286819 the amount Donated and your Name and Cheque Number or you could drop by Joyous Vet and place a deposit in Busuk’s Name. Busuk's progress will be updated and his bills posted here once it has been finalised. We wish Busuk a speedy recovery. Also I’m hoping to rehome him once he has recovered. Any genuine adoptors please contact me.
Do pray for his recovery and thank you for helping him.
Thank you.
